Ken is a Massachusetts licensed mental health counselor who graduated with a master’s degree from Lesley University’s Division of Counseling and Psychology. His three-year, 60-credit program included more than 3,300 hours of supervised field training; one of the most clinically focused programs available for master’s level clinicians.

Ken is also a Massachusetts Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. This license requires at least 4,000 hours of clinical experience in substance abuse counseling, and at least 270 hours of substance abuse education.

Before opening his private practice, he worked in varied settings, including an outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling center, a university student counseling center, and a day treatment program for the chronically mentally ill.

Psychotherapy is Ken’s second career: he was a journalist for 25 years, working for newspapers as a reporter, photographer, and movie reviewer; for magazines and newspapers as a freelance writer specializing in adventure travel and humor; and for 21 years, in television as an on-air reporter, editor, and producer of award-winning news programs.

Despite considerable fulfillment as a journalist, Ken gradually began to lose his sense of doing good in the world, of making a real difference. Over a period of ten years, he was able to come more into balance, but something was still lacking in his work life. Eventually he decided to follow his inner healer, and to become a psychotherapist.
