I offer non-judgmental substance abuse and addiction counseling; a safe, supportive place to talk and to explore whether your choices are consistent with your own values and goals. Substances and behavior patterns almost always start as solutions to problems, but can become much bigger problems in themselves. I have helped many people discover healthier ways of meeting their emotional needs.
I do not insist on any particular way of changing harmful behaviors. For example, some people find the Twelve Step approach essential. But that isn't true for everyone. Each path to a healthier, more balanced, fulfilling life is unique.
I often suggest the Serenity Prayer as a concise, all-purpose guide to anyone struggling with difficult emotions and choices, not just for harmful behaviors. By reflecting on the prayer, you may more easily find your way to clarity and peace of mind.
